ATLANTA, GEORGIA (June 3, 2025) – Ponce City Market announces The Commodore barbershop is now open on the second floor of the Central Food Hall. Open Monday through Saturday, the new outpost marks The Commodore’s fifth location, with others in Atlanta neighborhoods: Buckhead, Chamblee, Roswell, and West Midtown at Westside Provisions District.

The Commodore was founded in 2015 by Robert Hopper, who has over 15 years of experience in the barbering industry and is internationally trained. Operations are led by long-time team member and master barber Peter Terrones. The barbershop has established a reputation for helping to bring UK-based techniques to the Southeast and provides traditional barbering services, including haircuts, beard trims, straight razor shaves, and more, with an emphasis on classic yet modern, fashion-forward, precision-based haircutting. The team offers a diverse skill set and takes pride in providing adequate time for each service. Visitors can enjoy complimentary espresso and beer during their visit. “Being exclusively owned and operated by barbers has enabled The Commodore to keep up with ever-evolving trends in the hair industry and maintain its loyal, diverse customer base,” says Hopper.

Each of The Commodore’s locations draws inspiration from the unique character of the neighborhood that it serves. Buildhouse designed the Ponce City Market shop, which has an industrial/vintage-meets-modern aesthetic. It features dark oak, white marble, and six 1950’s antique Takara Belmont barber chairs, beautifully restored by Hopper himself.

Hopper is also set to soon open La Cueva, a new slot canyon speakeasy and restaurant hidden on the second floor of Ponce City Market’s Central Food Hall. The cocktail bar will specialize in mezcal and serve cocktails, beer, and wine alongside live music and Mexican botanas and larger plates for sharing.
