Jamestown to Lead Next Chapter at Charlotte’s Camp North End

Design-focused Real Estate Firm Behind Atlanta's Ponce City Market and Brooklyn’s Industry City Makes Joint Venture Investment in 76-Acre Adaptive Reuse Development in Charlotte’s North End

Charlotte, NC (February 10, 2026) – Global real estate investment and management company Jamestown is partnering with existing ownership to recapitalize one of Charlotte’s leading mixed-use environments: Camp North End. As a general partner, Jamestown will lead asset management, leasing, creative and marketing, architecture and design, and development for the 76-acre adaptive reuse development in the North End. ATCO Properties & Management (“ATCO”) will remain a partner in the overall Camp North End development, and Shorenstein Investment Advisors (“Shorenstein”) will remain a partner with Jamestown and ATCO in a portion of the project.

"Under ATCO’s leadership and direction, Camp North End has emerged as a dynamic creative ecosystem for local business, culture, and lifestyle in Charlotte,” said Michael Phillips, President of Jamestown. “We believe that a great place tells a compelling story, one where location, community, and history come together to create something bigger than the sum of its parts–and Camp North End is the embodiment of this ideal. We look forward to building upon that strong foundation, enhancing the property’s role as a vibrant destination for innovation, culture, and community, while preserving the authenticity and spirit that make it truly unique.”

“Over the past nine years, our entire Camp North End team has dedicated itself to transforming this formerly abandoned 76-acre industrial site into Charlotte’s most authentic, vibrant, and inclusive live-work-play community. We couldn’t be more proud of our accomplishments. Camp is currently home to over 95 businesses and organizations, nearly all of which are local to Charlotte, and saw more than one million visitors last year,” said Damon Hemmerdinger, Co-President of ATCO. “Alongside our partners at Shorenstein, we are thrilled to welcome Jamestown, which brings the rare combination of resources, expertise, experience, and creativity needed to advance Camp’s vision and position it for lasting success.”

Originally constructed in 1924 as a Ford Model T plant and later repurposed as the Charlotte Area Missile Plant (CAMP), ATCO has transformed Camp North End since its acquisition of the development in 2016.

Shorenstein joined as a strategic capital partner in 2018, enabling the redevelopment and leasing of a portion of the site, including 1701 and 1801 North Graham Street and 201 Camp Road. To date, more than 500,000 square feet of space has been thoughtfully restored, bringing innovation, creativity, and commerce together.

Blending historic preservation with modern design, the development today features a mixof office, residential, retail, restaurants and bars, public gathering space, event venues, and a sprawling collection of public art, with an additional 3.2 million square feet of land entitlements secured for future densification. Camp North End’s office component is home to such companies as Google Fiber, Ally Bank’s TM Studio, and Centene’s Carolina Complete Health. Notable retailers include Tipsy Pickle, Hex Coffee, Surefire Market, Eggroll Company, and Good Postage.

Jamestown will draw inspiration from its experience with historic adaptive reuse projects like Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Georgia, and Industry City in Brooklyn, New York, to bring additional dimension to the vibrant, mixed-use destination. The company will also apply insights from its stewardship of other local past and current projects including Optimist Hall and Birkdale Village.

Jamestown is retaining the existing on-site team, who will join the company as Jamestown employees, ensuring continuity of operations and building on the property’s deep community relationships. Damon Hemmerdinger will serve in an advisory role as Non-Executive Chairman of the joint venture. ATCO will continue to own and operate Kinship, the multifamily development completed in 2025.

Jared Londry and PointBlank Ventures advised ATCO on the transaction and led the structuring of the partnership. PointBlank Ventures has also been retained by Jamestown to raise joint-venture equity for the next phases of development at Camp North End.
