Jamestown Signs Purchase Agreement for Mixed-Use Property in Berlin

Acquisition to Add to Firm’s Growing European Portfolio and German Holdings

Berlin, Germany (January 15, 2026) – Jamestown, a global real estate investment and management company, today announced the signing of the purchase agreement for a mixed-use property located at Oranienburger Straße 4–5, in Hackescher Markt in the heart of Berlin. The acquisition, which is expected to close next month, adds to the firm’s growing European portfolio totaling over $1 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2025.

“Berlin is a true global city known for its creative energy and culture, and we believe that status will continue to drive its appeal as a place to live, work, shop, and visit well into the future,” said Michael Phillips, President of Jamestown. “With its central location and historic Gründerzeit-style buildings, we see Oranienburger Straße 4–5 as well positioned to capture ongoing demand across office, retail, and residential in the Hackescher Markt sub-market. This acquisition is part of our broader European investment strategy focused on core-plus and value-add opportunities in supply-constrained metropolitan markets across Germany, the UK, Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal.”

The six-building complex, which spans approximately 3,950 square meters, features a mix of office space (54%), gastronomy and retail (25%), and residential in the form of apartments (23%). Currently 95% leased, the property is anchored in one of Berlin’s most sought-after neighborhoods, Hackescher Markt, defined by its vibrant cultural scene, iconic architecture, and high foot traffic.

With its central location in Hackescher Markt, the property offers tenants transport accessibility and a lively environment. Restaurants, cultural sites, and a blend of historic buildings, modern structures, and landmarks characterize the neighborhood. Renovated, historic apartments in particular are in demand in the market, while the high pedestrian traffic makes the location attractive for retailers. The property’s office spaces, primarily smaller units ranging from 100–200 square meters, cater to strong local interest in flexible workspaces.

At Oranienburger Straße 4–5, Jamestown plans to optimize the tenant mix, modernize commercial spaces to support re-leasing, and enhance shared amenity areas such as courtyards to improve tenant satisfaction and community engagement.

The acquisition builds upon Jamestown’s European presence, where the firm has actively grown its portfolio over the past several years. Jamestown entered the European market in 2019 with the acquisition of the historic Groot Handelsgebouw, one of the largest multi-tenant office buildings in the Netherlands. Today, the firm’s European holdings have grown to include properties across 13 cities in six countries, with a central focus on structured investments in urban, high-growth areas.

In Germany, Jamestown owns Schanzenstrasse, a historic, three-building creative office campus in Cologne’s Mülheim neighborhood. Jamestown also serves as asset manager of the historic Lohmühlenstraße 65 factory, which it has reactivated as an innovation campus in partnership with Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC).

While Jamestown began investing in Europe in 2019, the firm has sponsored investment funds for individual German investors for over forty years. Jamestown’s European headquarters are based in Cologne, with additional European offices in London, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Madrid.
