HAY Opens Showroom and Office In New Studios in Schinkel District

Danish design brand moves into fast-growing home base for international design, fashion and creativity

Amsterdam, [April 23, 2026] – Danish homeware brand HAY has opened a showroom for interior professionals and a new office at Pilotenstraat 9 in Amsterdam’s Schinkel District. HAY has moved into aof 105square meter studio space, designed for makers in the creative sector. The spaces are part of Jamestown’s redevelopment of two buildings at the entrance to the district.

The new showroom will primarily serve as a space where interior designers, stylists and interior architects can find inspiration. Alongside a selection of HAY’s furniture and home accessories, it is a place where new ideas, concepts and collaborations can take shape. In the adjacent building, HAY will house its office.

Founded in 2002, HAY is recognized for its innovative approach to contemporary design. With stores in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the brand blends Scandinavian aesthetics with everyday functionality to create products that are both stylish and practical.

HAY is part of a growing group of international design and fashion brands that have chosen Schinkel District, including Scandinavian fashion brand Samsøe Samsøe and sports brand New Balance.

“Schinkel District is buzzing with creative energy. It’s a place where new ideas can grow and great collaborations can emerge. The area is both raw and accessible, which fits our brand perfectly. We look forward to becoming part of the Schinkel community and working with other creatives nearby,” says Esther Blaffert-de Jong, HAY.

“At Schinkel District we’ve developed a place with its own signature; where there’s room for creativity, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. We are proud that HAY, with its contemporary vision of sustainable, high-quality design, has chosen to join the businesses in this area,” says Thomas Sandlin, Managing Director, Europe, Jamestown.

Studios for makers

The new studios that HAY is moving into are part of the redevelopment of two former warehouses along the water on Valschermkade and Pilotenstraat. Together, the buildings cover almost 6,000 square metres. Jamestown is developing a mix of office space, workshops and studios for makers in the creative sector, complemented by hospitality.

A 115-metre passageway will connect the buildings. In this ‘alley’, visitors will be able to look into – or step into – the workspaces of makers and artists in their studios. Pilates studio UNA Pilates recently opened its doors there. The full redevelopment will be completed this summer.

Jamestown owns approximately 27,000 square meters of real estate in Schinkel District, including A-Factorij, a former bicycle factory, and Helicopterstraat, a series of modern office buildings with shops and hospitality on the ground floor. Well-known names such as Storyteq and Sunrock have established themselves in the district. Last year, Club Birdies – the largest indoor golf venue in the Benelux – opened its doors. Jamestown regularly organizes activities for businesses and residents, including the annual summer Block Party neighborhood festival.
